Ruth Herron Ross, a co-founder of the Exceptional Needs Foundation and co-author of The Wanna Play Program, received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Elementary Education from Beaver College and a Master of Science in Special Education and Specialty Reading from St. Joseph’s University. While in school, she worked as a teacher’s aid, a group leader, and a summer camp director. That background, combined with her years as a pre-school classroom lead teacher, helped develop and hone her abilities in working with teaching teams, classroom organization, and lesson planning and implementation. Ruth also received training in a variety of one-on-one early intervention and home programs. Her 12 years of education experiences, combined with her earily intervention training, gave Ruth a foundation of knowledge in autism, language development, and socialization skills to create The Wanna Play Program. Ruth has been facilitating social skill groups and individual sessions for children ages 3 through 15 years for the past 8 years at their Pennsylvania location of The Wanna Play Program.
