Interactive Metronome
Interactive Metronome is a computer-based program which we may incorporate with OT services to best help children or adults to gain focus and attention by helping them to cope with their sensory processing needs. Interactive Metronome was developed in the early 1990s to help children with developmental learning disorders and adult neurological disorders. Today Interactive Metronome continues to help children and adults to improve the attention, focus and motor planning skills that they need to keep up with demanding pace of school and social interaction. Based on the theory that "what is fired together is wired together" Interactive Metronome training incorporates multiple sensory inputs to increase attention and focus during sequenced activities.
Clients who complete the 15 sessions of Interactive Metronome find the benefits to include improvement in:
- Focus and attention for longer periods of time
- Filter out internal and external distractions
- Improve ability to monitor mental and physical actions as they are occurring
- Progressively improve coordinated performance
- Increased physical endurance and stamina
